The ABC’s of Ethics
This course will update Licensed Massage Therapists on current ethical issues in the massage therapy industry. Professional boundaries for practitioners, PA massage therapy license requirements, and massage therapy organizations professional codes of ethics will be discussed in detail. This class is eligible for 4 CEUs.
ACT 31 Mandated Training
This two-hour course, which meets Act 31 requirements for license renewals, provides a basic overview of the history of child protection in America, including the key points of the Child Protective Services System.
Advanced Cupping
Advanced cupping for range of motion, static training. This course is designed for those who have had fundamental of cupping. Courses focuses on increasing range of motion by treating muscle groups with static pinning, stretching and cupping. **Pre-requisite: Foundations of Cupping**
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Why Is Continuing Education So Important
The massage therapists’ practice environment is constantly changing in terms of resources, expectations and emerging technologies. Registered Massage Therapists are accountable to the public to promote safe, ethical and competent care throughout their careers and continually acquire enhanced competence in their practice.
Continuing competence promotes effective massage therapy, assists in preventing poor practice, and contributes to the quality of practice and best possible patient outcomes. It enables the massage therapist to base their practices on the most recent and strongest evidence necessary for high quality and effective care. Continuous learning requires Registered Massage Therapists to reflect on their competencies in relation to the changes occurring in society and the health care environment and, as a result, take action to further educate themselves.

These courses are an excellent opportunity for therapists to revisit the science or lecture-based curriculum of their massage therapy education.
CCMH-Halifax is currently offering two types of lecture series:
- Mini-Seminar Series courses in Anatomy and Physiology , Regional Anatomy and three new Pathology courses!
- Full-Seminar Series courses in AP, Neurology, RA, Pathology, and Professional Development.
Mini-Seminar Series courses can be taken at any time. Full-Seminar Series courses are offered at specific dates.
For course descriptions, contact Jennifer Stuart at. Once a completed form and payment is submitted to CCMH, the therapist will be sent an enrollment email message with details on how to enter and complete the course. There are no prerequisites for any continuing education courses open to massage therapists offered by CCMH-Halifax.
All CCMH-Halifax online continuing education courses incorporate evaluation methods that participants must successfully complete prior to obtaining a course certificate. Evaluations are typically in the form of quizzes or tests and a final exam. Successful completion is defined by achieving a minimum grade of 70 per cent overall. The grading scheme is outlined at the beginning of each course.

Chronic pain is not only challenging for the person experiencing it, but for family members, physicians, and health care providers as well. A number of treatments and adjunct therapies are available that can help manage chronic pain conditions caused by traumatic injuries, illness, autoimmune conditions, as well as disease processes but for many, there is no cure. However, throughout this course, it is important for the massage or bodywork professional to understand that pain especially chronic pain has different implications for different people. Are You Interested In Learning Massage Cupping
Most therapists use pressure created by their fingers, wrists and body weight. Massage cupping therapists use suction created by the cups to provide negative pressure, allowing you to work MUCH, MUCH deeper with no client discomfort and NO STRAIN on your body.
In this dynamic course, you will learn how to use the cups to perform lymphatic drainage You will also learn how to treat TMJ AND a terrific non-surgical face-lift technique using mini-cups. A wonderful sciatic technique will also be demonstrated. You will leave the class with at least three brand new protocols to market in your practice. In class, you will learn about several different types of cups.
CLASS SUPPLIES Due to enhanced COVID safety precautions, all students must bring their own set of supplies to work with. This includes a set of massage cups. The instructor will have limited cupping sets available for sale at the time of the class. You may work with any massage cups that you would like. If you are purchasing a set of cups, we suggest the Lure Edge Cupping Therapy Kit which may be purchased from the Lure website or Amazon.com. Please also bring a small container of a massage oil of your choice and either alcohol wipes or you can use a small spray bottle with a 50/50 solution of water and Listerine with paper towels.

Ontario Massage Therapy Continuing Education Requirements
It is our understanding that Registered Massage Therapists practicing in the province of Ontario must complete and submit specified STRiVE components on an annual basis between September 1 and November 30. STRiVE replaces the previous continuing education program which was based on a three-year cycle.
The key components of STRiVE include:
- An e-learning module which provides education on a topic that is relevant to the entire profession. RMTs are required to demonstrate their knowledge of the content each year.
- A self-assessment that is comprised of performance indicators that will help the RMT assess their current level of performance every two years.
- A learning plan whereby RMTs have to define their goals and objectives for professional development. RMTS will develop a learning plan with goals and activities. This starts by providing these learning goals and continuing professional development activities between September and November 30th of the first year in the renewal. In the second year RMTs will submit their progress report also between September and November 30th. This is where our courses fit in!
- A yearly Experiential Learning Exercise which helps RMTs develop skills in reflective practice such that one can analyze ones own professional performance with the goal of enabling ongoing improvement and further developing areas of strength and expertise.
