The comprehensive massage therapy curriculum offered by Arizona College of Nursing equips students with knowledge, skills, and expertise to apply for licensure and entry-level employment in the field. Experienced faculty will cover core massage and business courses in the classroom followed by hands-on training with modern equipment in the schools lab. The schedule of courses includes Massage for Special Populations, Swedish Massage, Client Care in Massage Therapy, Eastern and Energetic Approaches, Spine and Thorax Palpations, Lower Body Palpations, Sports and Injury Massage, Spa Techniques, Upper Body Palpations, Muscular System: Lower Body, Pain Solutions in Massage Therapy, and Advanced Clinical Practicum. This is a five-member panel consisting of three massage therapists and two lay persons. It certifies that massage therapy schools meet accreditation and curriculum requirements, licenses and regulates practitioners, enforces laws and regulations, and investigates complaints. The goal is to ensure the health and safety of massage therapy services in the state.
To win board approval, a school must be accredited by an organization that either the U.S. Department of Education or the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education recognizes. Officials may waive this requirement if a school offers its programs through a joint technical education district.
