Natural Puffy Eye Remedies You Can Make At Home

Massage to help get rid of puffy, tired eyes

We found a ton of home remedies for under eye puffiness ranging from frozen peas to cold tea bags. The most common natural remedy for swollen eyes is a cold compress .

The cold helps constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling. However, some can be messy. I’ll start with my least favorite:

Cold tea bags for swollen eyes

While tea bags might work a bit to reduce eye swelling, the tannins in the tea also can dry the delicate under eye skin – sometimes making the look worse. So proceed with caution if you have extra dry under eye skin.

Start with non-flavored caffeinated tea bags. The caffeine helps constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling. If your eyes are red and irritated, then try chamomile which helps calm irritation, redness, and inflammation.

To prepare:

Ok so here’s what you need to do:

  • seep two tea bags in a cup of hot water for five minutes
  • put the tea bags into a container
  • place in the refrigerator until they’re cold

Cold tea bags should have worked pretty well right? The cold helped reduce inflammation and the tannins helped constrict blood vessels which helped reduce dark circles.

This should have been the perfect solution – right? Well, not for me!

The tannins in the tea dried the delicate skin around my eyes and left me with crepey/ crinkly fine lines. So looks like I traded one problem for another!Besides, who’s got that much time to sit around each morning with cold tea bags on their eyes?

Keep Your Eyes Hydrated

Hydrate your skin to keep your complexion hydrated and looking great with a natural, healthy glow. Use a good daily moisturizer to keep your skin healthy . Dehydration can leave the skin around the eyes loose and sunken.

Pay attention to moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and refreshing gel formula to help you rejuvenate immediately after use. Keeping the skin nourished is a good way to delay the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, which can increase the fatigue of the eyes. Look for eye creams that contain anti-aging ingredients such as caffeine, peptides, and vitamin E. Retinol is another vitamin that is beneficial to mature skin because it can increase collagen production, thereby reducing wrinkles and crow’s feet. It can soothe tired eyes by moisturizing the skin and bringing relief.

This technique incorporates exercise. Exercising your facial muscles helps improve tone and can help reduce some signs of aging. This particular exercise helps tone the muscles under your eyes, under your eyebrows, and around your mouth.

First place your index fingers under your eyes. Next, make an O shape with your mouth and flutter your eyelids. The flutter is rapid, approximately three flutters per second.

Maintain this position and movement for several seconds at a time to tone muscles.

    Ways To Get Rid Of A Puffy Face In The Morning

    1. Applying The Oil

    Pour the oil onto your palms and rub them together to activate the oil by the warmth generated. Make an ‘L’ with your thumb and fingers. Now, tuck your thumbs beneath your chin and slowly move from the sides of your nose towards your cheeks, while transferring the oil to your face. Then, proceed to lower your hands towards your neck and release. Swipe, transfer, lift and drain. 2. Under Eye Massage

    The maximum puffiness is usually found around your eyes. So, place two fingers on your inner tear duct and swipe your fingers across your entire under eye area. Then, drain downwards towards the side of your face. This creates muscle memory and promotes lymphatic drainage. 3. Upper Eye Massage

    Let’s not forget about our upper eyes as it’s usually our lids that swell up after a good night’s rest. To get rid of it, make a ‘V’ shape with your fingers, place them on the socket of your eye and swipe outwards. After this, drain downwards towards your neck, wriggle and release. 4. Forehead Massage

    Let’s move up to our forehead now. Take two fingers from both hands, place them between your eyebrows and create semi-circles or an inverted C upon your forehead. This helps to get rid of forehead lymphatic drainage. After repeating this motion five to six times, massage your temples and drain downwards towards your neck. 5. Neck Massage

    This massage technique uses only your index fingers. In one fluid motion, smooth your fingers under your eyes, across your cheeks, behind your ears, and down the sides of your neck.

    Do both sides of your face at the same time, using a light stroke that doesnt pull the delicate skin around your eyes. Start on the bridge of your nose right by the inner corner of your eyes and end right above your collarbone.

    The entire movement, from beginning to end, takes about five seconds. Repeat as many times as you like. Do not use too much pressurethe technique should not pull your skin. Keep your fingers in contact with your skin throughout the movement.

    This smoothing, swooping technique helps eliminate toxins under your eyes that can cause puffiness and dark circles. The light touch feels soothing and calming.

    Tips And Tricks To Prevent Puffy Eyes

    In order to effectively reduce your chances of experiencing puffy eyes, you will need to identify the potential triggers responsible for your puffy eyes and work to avoid them.

    Seasonal allergies causing swollen eyes can be addressed with over-the-counter or prescription medications. However, you can also take measures to reduce the presence of allergens in your immediate environment.

    Use vacuums equipped with HEPA filters to combat indoor allergens such as pet dander and dust mites. Be sure to avoid cosmetic products with ingredients that cause eye irritation, such as nickel, cobalt and preservatives like parabens.

    There can be several reasons for puffy eyes, including stress, fluid retention, a poor diet or too much alcohol.     Face Yoga Massage Technique #5

    The next massage technique is the most active of the series. Using your index fingers, gently tap all around your eyes. This time the motion should move clockwise from the inner nose bridge and go above your eyebrows. Continue tapping approximately two finger widths away from the outer corner of your eye and down onto your cheeks to create a full circle.

    Your index fingers are stronger than the ring fingers used in the previous exercises, so make sure your tapping remains gentle. It looks like a vigorous motion, but the contact is light. A full circle takes between two and three seconds.

    This movement helps improve the circulation in the skin around your eyes and the rest of your face. Improved circulation makes your skin glow.
