However, many people have reported positive therapeutic benefits associated with cupping. While there arent studies in place to support all of these claims, its worth reviewing them.

These are some of the reported therapeutic effects of cupping:

How To Renew Your Board

The NCBTMB requires that board-certified massage therapists renew their certification periodically by taking continuing education courses. Unlike the process for license renewal, however, these steps are uniform regardless of your state:

  • Complete 24 CEs within a two-year period
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Apply for renewal
  • Agree to NCBTMBs Standards and Code of Ethics

What If I Move States

Gender Bias in the Profession

Renewal discrepancies can pose a problem if you decide to move to a different state. You may be able to have your license endorsed if your previous states licensing requirements were equal to or exceeding your current states requirements. However, some states are very strict on this, so be sure to check with the state boards.

Youre not confined to one state, however it is possible to hold multiple licenses. So if you spend winters in Florida but summers in New York, a little extra CE research will ensure you can continue your practice wherever you go.

I like to teach because I like to learn, Salvo said. The entire process of education is, by nature, transformative. I enjoy diving into a topic, the feelings of awe and wonder from reading research, applying the findings to professional practice, sharing the journey with others, and using their questions to dive into a different topic.

She added, I believe teaching has made me a better practitioner through improving my knowledge and expertise.

Where Can You Learn New Massage Techniques

When it comes to continuing your massage education, you have a couple of options.

The first involves signing up for traditional CEU courses: the kind that are offered in-person. While these can be great for some people, attending an in-person training can be time consuming and cost prohibitive. Theyre great when they fit your schedule and budget, but theyre not for everyone.

The other option and one which is becoming increasingly popular is to take an online massage CEU course. In order to maintain your licensure in the majority of states, youll need to obtain a certain number of CEU hours each year . Attending an online massage CEU course is a great way to fulfill this requirement.

If youre looking for an online course that focuses specifically on cupping, look no further! Panda offers an exclusive CEU course that will teach you everything you need to know.
