I went on to the University of Chicago for a second masters degree in social services administration with a focus on clinical mental health. While living in Chicago, I worked in some of the largest housing projects in the country interviewing mothers whose children were in protective custody with the goal of improving support services to minority populations. In addition, I provided counseling services to black students in an embedded health and counseling center in an inner-city high school and worked in a psychiatric unit in a community hospital in the same neighborhood. I also provided social work services in the emergency department of a level I trauma hospital near downtown.
Since then, I have worked in program management and provided counseling services in community agencies, psychiatric and medical hospitals, crisis centers and higher ed institutions in Arizona, Colorado and back here in my beautiful home state of Utah. I have extensive experience assessing and treating mental health conditions in diverse populations and am committed to improving access to quality health and behavioral health services for all.
