Holistic Massage Training Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, recently entered into an articulation agreement with Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland. Graduates of Holistic Massage Training Institutes program may now receive 19 college credits.
This is a benefit to students, because Maryland has a two-tier system of licensing massage therapists. With less than 60 college credits, a therapist in Maryland is licensed as a registered massage practitioner, and may not work in a health care setting. With 60 college credits, a therapist in Maryland is licensed as a licensed massage therapist and is permitted to work in a health care setting.
The agreement was put in place in late August 2013 and will be applicable to its currently enrolled class of massage therapy students.
Holistic Massage Training Institute opened its doors in November 1999, starting with three students taking their first steps toward rewarding careers as massage therapists. Over the past decade, the school has graduated 180 students, and continues to provide massage therapy instruction, serving students from Baltimore and attracting students from the surrounding areas as far as Virginia.
