You can also select a fragrant oil to add in for scent or other essential oils that will bring health benefits to your cream.

    How To Spot Damage

It is pretty easy to tell when your cuticles and nails are becoming damaged. The skin around your nails will be dry, maybe even itchy. Your cuticles will appear cracked and as if they are pulling back from your nail. You may even start to develop hangnails.

More subtle signs of damage include weak nails, nails that break easily, or tenderness around the cuticles.

What To Look For In A Cuticle Cream

Sally Hansen Cuticle Massage Cream Review

Everything from ingredients, to price, to the added benefits of a cuticle cream should be factored into your decision. These things can vary greatly, so its important to decide which factors matter most to you in order to get the greatest benefits out of your selected product.

    Active Ingredients

Probably the most significant factor in choosing a cuticle cream, the active ingredients can set a great cream apart from a dud.

Look out for things such as shea butter, vitamin E, beeswax, and coconut oil. Each of these ingredients has a lot to offer in terms of hydration and skin health. We go into more depth on why these are good for you below in our cuticle cream .

Theres an added bonus for the cream if it is free of sulfates, parabens, and artificial fragrances and dyes, which can irritate the skin with prolonged use.

    Affordability

Affordability is important when it comes to finding the perfect cuticle cream. No one wants to have to dig into their rainy-day fund for the sake of a nail care purchase!

But sometimes a little splurge can be worth it for a truly great product. Our premium pick Onsen Japanese Cuticle Cream is a great example of a product that is worth the extra pennies.

    Additional Benefits

Cuticle creams can offer a number of benefits besides just repairing cuticles. Many products also soothe hangnails and dry skin around the nail. Others can double as hand creams or nail strengtheners. Some, like Genas Healthy Hoof Cream, can even do both.

Why Should I Care About My Cuticles

How to Apply Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips

Your cuticles are the only thing standing between a you with nails and a you without nails.

Ok, that may be a slight exaggeration, but cuticles are very important when it comes to overall nail health.

Your cuticle is the thin layer of skin at the bottom edge of your fingers and toes. It protects the nail from bacteria as it grows out from the nail root.

It is a very sensitive area of skin and can easily become dried out or damaged. This, if left untreated, can lead to infection, which in turn can cause blisters, tenderness, or nail detachment .

Its important to take good care of your cuticles daily to prevent them from becoming damaged. If you are looking for a product suited to daily use, check out Onsen Japanese Cuticle Cream or Burts Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.

    Should I Cut My Cuticles

Cutting your cuticles is probably not a good idea, even if you are having a professional do it. After you have cut back your cuticle, there is more space for bacteria to come in contact with your nail root and cause an infection.

Most nail salons will argue that cutting the cuticles helps nail polish stay on longer, and while it may do that, the risk of infection makes it something you should consider avoiding altogether.

If you really need to move your cuticles off of your nail, try gently pushing them back and trimming them.

To do this, soften your cuticles in water before massaging in your favorite cuticle cream. Then, apply cuticle remover and gently push the cuticle back towards your skin with a cuticle pusher. Trim off any excess skin or hangnails you see, being careful to not cut the cuticle completely off.

My Experience With Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Cuticle Eraser + Balm:

This product comes in a cute jar and has cute green and white swirl pattern.I made sure I took the photos for the review before starting to use the product. This has a mild cucumber fragrance and is very refreshing. I have been using this for about a month now. The consistency of the product is a cross between a body butter and a balm. I apply this balm on my nails and massage it, then leave it on for as long as I prefer. Since this is a very mild product, I leave it overnight as well. What I did notice with the effectiveness is that this balm definitely moisturized my nails and made the area around my nails soft.

With regards to removing cuticles, I think this product works quite slowly. Even though it did not remove dry cuticles immediately like a straightforward cuticle remover, it worked on my nails to soften and keep dry cuticles under check. The best part was that my nail generally appeared neater after only using it for a couple of times. I feel this balm has to be used consistently and continuously to keep nails under check.

Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Cuticle Eraser + Balm Review

    Hi Ladies,

Hope you all are fine and looking forward for Christmas and the New Years break I have always liked Sally Hansen brand for nail care and nail colours. I have also used a few makeup products from Sally Hansen. Since manicures at good places are extremely expensive here, I only go in for manicures occasionally and try to DIY nail care at home. There are cheap nail spas around, but they are always in the spotlight because they dont have well-trained therapists and also have hygiene issues, so I avoid them totally and dont have much option other than to rely on Sally Hansen for my nail care.

I have used the cuticle remover in a cream form made by Sally Hansen before however, I didnt want to use a cuticle remover regularly as I felt that cuticle removers were a bit harsh. The purpose of cuticles is to protect the nail bed, so I was quite skeptical about using a cuticle remover because of fear of getting an infection.

    Ingredients:

Just when I was thinking about this, I came across a new introduction from Sally Hansen which is the cuticle eraser+ balm and appeared to be a two-in-one product. It looked extremely attractive because of the swirl design and the fragrance was really refreshing as it was a cucumber fragrance. Please read through to see how this product fared for me:

Sally Hansen Cuticle Massage Cream is for soft, healthy nails. This rich cream helps to seal in moisture and keep your cuticles hydrated and nourished all the time. With a light citrus fragrance thats perfect for summertime, this revitalizing product will leave your hands feeling softer than ever before.I found 22 customer reviews at the time of writing and they had awarded Sally Hansen Cuticle Massage Cream 4.7 stars out of a possible 5 on average,.The customer reviews on Amazon are positive overall with lots of people saying how much their nails have improved since using it!. There were only one or two negative comments about minor issues such as for every 10 minutes Im scrubbing my fingers with this cream-like substance under water- there was still an oil film left behind but these seem to be isolated incidents rather than widespread problems so I think it would be safe enough to give Sally Hanson Cuticle Repair Creams 4/5?
