Something new, different, and applicable to your practice and life.

This class lives at the intersection of neuroscience and communication, bodywork and boundaries.

The material is centered around and inspired by Stephen Porgesâ work on Polyvagal Theory. We will be discussing our bodyâs reaction to stress, including fight, flight, freeze, and fawn reactions, and the importance of social engagement to help regulate our systems.

Using short videos, guided meditations and somatic exercises, we will explore how this can inform our understanding of and communication with our clients, our boundary setting with others, and our jobs as massage therapists.

While its observations and tenets can help us with our time at the massage table, Polyvagal Theory can apply to every aspect of our lives, from partnerships to parenting, work to play.

Why Are Ce Providers Regulated

Massage Textbook: Ethics in the Massage Profession (Professionals ...

Nationwide, massage therapy is a popular career choiceand an area thats growing. However, since massage therapists may operate independently, and since massage itself is so diverse, the massage industry has struggled with creating uniformity in massage therapist regulation. This includes the areas of training, education and licensureall of which will help ensure the credibility of the field as a whole.

Regarding continuing education, the NCBTMB has moved to the forefront of the charge in trying to create some basic guidelines for massage practitioners and massage instructors to follow. As such, they started to evaluate both what should be required of massage therapists as they advance in their careers, along with what CE providers should have to offer their students.

In 2011, after facing criticism that they had not been stringent enough with their standards in evaluating massage education providers, they determined to redesign their approval criteria. As of 2013, they now have an upgraded continuing education provider evaluation process.

If youd like to become a continuing education provider or instructor, its a good idea to visit the NCBTMB website to get a baseline understanding of what they look for in an approved provider. While their benchmark is not law, it does suggest that at minimum, youll need:

Some prior teaching experience with a small group A class description and objectives A syllabus outlining coursework

This course, launched in 2016, consists of two modules that cover the principles of record keeping, and considerations related to privacy and security of patients health care records.

While the course is available to RMTs to take toward Cycle 13 continuing education credits, CMTBC recommends that RMTs instead complete the new Documentation in Massage Therapy Practice course, which includes current information on documentation requirements found in the newly enacted standards of practice and recently revised Code of Ethics.

Please note, however, that Cycle 13 continuing education credits will not be awarded for completion of the Documentation in Massage Therapy Practice course. The course is a requirement for registration renewal in 2023 for all RMTs, practising and non-practising, registered before November 1, 2022.

Clinical Practice Guidelines For Low Back Pain

Pin on Massage CE Training Class Dates & Schedule

About the Course

Participants in this video course will be introduced to the current evidence-based approach to management of low back pain using Clinical Practice Guidelines from the Orthopedic Physical Therapy Section of the American Physical Therapy Association with clinical reasoning. As payers and medical practitioners increasingly depend on evidence-based Guidelines, clinicians must utilize published recommendations when selecting examination tools and designing therapeutic programs to direct functional outcomes and to optimize documentation for reimbursement. CPGs are intended to complement the clinical reasoning process of clinicians, not to provide a mandated protocol for making decisions about patient management. Understand the terminology and recommendations used in the CPG for low back pain. Select the proper impairment categories for your patients with low back pain for a more accurate match to their medical diagnosis, and choose recommended interventions to promote functional outcomes. Recognize what intervention types to utilize for specific impairment categories based on current evidence to successfully address low back pain and its related limitations.
