Foot Neck Shoulder And Scalp Therapy

Foot, Neck, Shoulder and Scalp Therapy is a therapeutic treatment designed to relax targeted areas and ease the aching feet. Treatment begins with a back compression followed by a neck and shoulder massage. A soothing hot towel compress is applied on the feet and the scalp is massaged to relieve and promote balance. A therapeutic foot massage is then administered. For enhanced therapy and deeper relaxation, hot stones are applied to the feet allowing the heat to penetrate through the feet and release overall tension. The treatment ends with a foot scrub and hot towel compress.

Your Best Deep Tissue Massage

Before your treatment, your massage therapist will talk through any problem areas you might like to target. The appointment will begin with calming aromatherapy to relax you, which will help maximize the results of your massage. Essential oils will be chosen to suit your needs, and the deep tissue massage technique used will help to break up scar tissue that forms following injuries or strain, reducing muscle tension.

The appointment will conclude with our signature aromatherapy to ensure continued relaxation. Your massage therapist will recommend a personalized home care regimen just for you, maximizing the results of your treatment.

Is Deep Tissue Massage Safe After Injury

Yes, it is safe after injury. In fact, a deep tissue massage can accelerate healing by improving circulation and increasing oxygen in the blood. We recommend letting the injury heal for two or three days before coming for a massage, and we ask that you please tell your therapist about the injury and maintain open communication during the massage.

Does A Deep Tissue Massage Hurt

Deep tissue massages can be uncomfortable since massage therapists must apply enough pressure to reach and relax deep muscles and tissue. Slight pain is normal as a therapist works through stiff areas.

Most clients call this a hurts so good kind of pain because they can feel their muscles loosening and receiving more blood flow to the areas.

Our therapists tailor their treatment to each clients preferences and can adjust their technique and pressure for maximum comfort.

Deep Tissue Massage Purpose

Deep tissue massage centers on realigning the deeper layers of connective and muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the tense areas, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles, tendons and fascia. It is particularly helpful for continually tight and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders.

Deep tissue massage is much more than just a hard massage. In contrast to only relaxing muscles, the specific lengthening of fascia, muscles and tendons offers many benefits such as increased joint movement, quicker injury recovery, better posture, as well as feelings of well-being.

Deep tissue massage is often used to treat:

  • Chronic Pain
  • Recovery from Injuries
  • Repetitive Strain Injury
  • Postural Problems
  • Muscle Tension or Spasm.

Deep Tissue Massage Treatment

Massage in Austin Texas with Kristen Lumsden for Pain Relief and Mobility

Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as a more classic superficial massage. The difference is that the pressure will generally be more intense, and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. The strokes are the same, but the movement is slower and deeper. At certain points during the massage, most people find there is usually some discomfort and pain. It is important to tell the therapist when they hit a tender spot and if any discomfort you experience is outside your comfort range. Due to the focused nature of the session, the treatment can become intense at times.

Occasionally there is some stiffness or tenderness after a deep tissue massage, but it should subside within a day or so. The massage therapist may suggets applying ice to the area after the deep tissue massage.

Im here from NYC walking by the cool east side location and thought i’d try try this spa. I have had many massages in my time. Joseph was just fantastic!!! Id say it was a combination of deep tissue, realignment and perhaps a bit of reiki – I suffer from chronic headaches and shoulder problems and I feel transformed. The staff was just lovely and helpful as well!

I had Chris and he did a wonderful job working out knots and kinks that were causing pain when sitting. He used a variety of techniques and I felt very refreshed after the session. I highly recommend Myo to anyone looking for a true therapeutic massage experience.

Deep Tissue Massage Goals

Deep tissue has been found to improve muscle function and range of motion, break up scar tissue and adhesions, and decrease pain. It is thought that when muscles are tensed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A deep tissue massage may help loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly. Because many toxins are released, it is recommended to drink plenty of water after a deep tissue session to help eliminate these toxins from the body.

Goals of Deep Tissue Massage:

  • Reduce pain.
  • Increase flexibility and perception of looseness.
  • Improve fluidity of movement.
  • Restore metabolic status of tissue.

How Long Will The Deep Tissue Massage Last

Kristen Lumsden Abdominal Massage from Intro to Thai Massage Austin, TX 3/28/2022 Lumbar Spine Pain

That is up to you as the client, but we do have some suggestions for those interested in our suggestion:

For overall relaxation: 50, 80, or 110 mins

For troubleshooting problem areas we suggest:

    • 50mins Best for targeted work on one area and brushing over the rest of the posterior side of the body. Often there isnt enough time to thoroughly address issues and cover the whole body in this amount of time, both you and the therapist will feel rushed with less than optimal results.
    • 80mins Great for targeted work on one area and then continuing on for a full-body massage OR targeted work on two areas and brushing over the rest of the posterior side of the body.
    • 110mins The sky is the limit here, pick areas to focus on and or just lay back and relax the time away.
