Rizzieri Aveda School Of Massage Has A New Name New Look And New Owner
Center Healing Arts
The school formally known as Rizzieri Aveda School of Massage is now named Center for the Healing Arts and is owned and operated by Joelle Denneler. Until taking over ownership of the school, Denneler had been an employee with Rizzieri for 20-plus years, with the last nine of those years as an instructor in the massage school.
Center for the Healing Arts, with emphasis on center, will offer all modalities pertaining to massage and bodywork therapystarting with the core entry-level massage program, to continuing education for licensed massage therapists, to workshops for all. Our goal is for the relationship between the student and the school from the day they enter the program to evolve as an ongoing relationship throughout their entire career as a massage therapist, says Denneler. The place to be for all students and graduates of massage therapy.
A new popular addition to the school is a MBLEx Study Group. This course was designed to help graduates prepare for the MBLEx exam, which is required by the state for licensure as a massage therapist. The course meets one day a week for a total of five weeks. Students have found the course to be very beneficial in their preparation for the MBLEx exam.

The Franco Cipriotti Scholarship
For Cosmetology Only: This scholarship is given to Cosmetology students who demonstrate financial need and are committed to succeeding at the Rizzieri Aveda School. The scholarship amount will vary, and is in accordance to the Students Financial Aid eligibility. The scholarship is used to cover the portion of tuition remaining after the Pell Grant and Student Loan has been applied.
To apply, students must meet the following qualifications:
- Be fully Pell Grant eligible
- Three letters of recommendation from professionals other than family members
- 500-word essay describing your goals and your reason for enrolling in the program
The review board will interview all finalists and contact the scholarship recipient prior to the class start.

Massage Student Sues Over Expulsion
CAMDEN – A former student has sued a Voorhees massage school, saying she was wrongly expelled over an allegation of sexual misconduct.
Ka-Msiyara Corbett of Glassboro contends she was falsely accused by a customer of the Rizzieri School for the Healing Arts, then was denied the opportunity to defend herself at a hearing.
Her federal lawsuit alleges the school broke a contractual relationship and violated the state Law Against Discrimination. The suit, which seeks unspecified damages, was filed Thursday in federal court, Camden.
An attorney for the school, which has operated since 1928, denied any wrongdoing.
Corbett, a former director at the Boys and Girls Club of Gloucester County, was preparing for a new career as a licensed massage therapist when she paid $8,250 in tuition to the Rizzieri School. The school, which was founded in Camden in 1928, is now based at the Voorhees Town Center.
Corbett massaged the school’s customers as part of her training, the lawsuit says.
According to the suit, Corbett was called into a meeting with a school administrator on Feb. 3 and was told a customer had accused her of sexual misconduct during a Jan. 28 session, with Corbett being expelled as a consequence, the administrator said.
The suit contends Corbett requested details of her alleged misconduct, but none were provided. It says an attorney for Corbett later obtained a redacted report that claimed Corbett “had inappropriately touched private areas of the client.”

This beauty school scholarship is awarded four times per year, and may be used at most schools nationwide.
The scholarship recipient is selected from the pool of individuals who submit their scholarship applications before the deadline each quarter, and meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the rules.
Deadlines for Scholarship: January 31, April 30, July 31 and October 31 each year.
